Dr. Shannon Emmons, DVM and OwnerWhile growing up in South Berwick, Maine Dr. Emmons knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a Marshwood student she worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Lee at South Berwick Veterinary Hospital. Following graduation from high school she went on to attend the University of Vermont and received her Bachelor's in Animal Science. Dr. Emmons then continued her academic pursuits at Atlantic Veterinary College graduating in May of 2017 with a Doctorate of Veterinary medicine. Her primary areas of interest while in veterinary school were nutrition, animal behavior, dentistry and veterinary pathology. Dr. Emmons bought the practice from Dr. Lee in June of 2019 and has been very excited working with the community as a small business owner. As of February 2023, Dr. Emmons will be working with Dr. Calder of Calder Veterinary Behavior Services to pursue a residency in veterinary behavior.
She currently lives in Lebanon with her husband, dogs, cats, goats and horses. While not at work she enjoys hiking with her dogs, horseback riding, skiing, gardening, knitting and reading. She is also very passionate about mental health and volunteers as the Education Committee Co-Chair and a member of the Board of Directors for the veterinary mental health organization, Not One More Vet, Inc. Dr. Kathy Bouras, DVMDr. Kathy Bouras grew up in Northern Virginia, where she loved riding and showing horses as well as caring for various animals. She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and has been practicing in the Seacoast since. When not working, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and traveling. She is a long time resident of
South Berwick with her partner Jonathan and her son, and shares her home with two rescue, dogs Liam and Birdie. Jeff Hammersmith, Practice ManagerJeff was elated to join the EVH family as the practice manager in July of 2019. As the practice manager he makes sure the day to day operations of the clinic run smoothly and handles whatever problems may arise. He applied for the position of professional puppy snuggler, but this was the closest he could get. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in biology in 2013 and from Southern Maine Community College with a degree in Paramedicine in 2019. When not at EVH he works as a paramedic in the area or enjoys his time off hiking with his dog, or taking care of projects around the farm.
Stephanie Alameda, LVTStephanie has been with Eliot Veterinary Hospital since its inception in 2013. She has over a decade of extensive experience in veterinary medicine. She graduated in 2007 from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Zoology and became a licensed Veterinary Nurse in 2011. Stephanie knew from a young age she wanted to work with animals in some capacity, but fell in love with the veterinary field while attending college.
When she is not at work, you can find her busy at home with her daughter, Lydia. She is an ocean lover and prefers to be out on the boat with her fiance, Brad. They share their home with 3 fur babies, Brandi, Logan and Mango. Ali McLaughlin, LVTAli joined the staff of Eliot Veterinary Hospital in January of 2015. At a young age she had an infinite love for animals of all shapes and sizes and decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Ali exhibits great enthusiasm in her profession and sincere care for the patients and clients of Eliot Veterinary Hospital. Her fun loving and comical personality are sure to keep you on your toes and put a smile on your face. Ali’s professional interests include dentistry, client education and squeezing/popping whatever she can get her hands on.
In Ali’s free time she enjoys reading horror novels, spending time with friends as well as her husband, Kyle, and caring for her indoor plants. Ali loves spending time on the beach in the summer with a fruity drink and an umbrella in her hand. If you're not sure who that is, she's the one with the shaved head! Ali has two cats at home, Luna and Chewy and the best senior pitty, Soul. Maddie Hartnett, LVT
Maddie was welcomed to our team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2017.
She graduated from the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Sciences in May 2017 with degrees in Veterinary Technology and Small Animal Care. She soon after passed her National Veterinary Technician Exam and is a Licensed Veterinary Nurse. Maddie has loved animals ever since she was a child and always knew she would one day be a part of the veterinary profession. She is very dedicated to her career and could not see herself doing anything different. Maddie shows compassion and care for the patients and their owners. She is always sure to bring a fun and positive attitude to our team. She currently lives in Durham, New Hampshire with her boyfriend and the smushiest Pibble Callie Moo. When she is not at work, she enjoys going to the beach, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends, family and her boyfriend Nick. Jess White, LVT
Jess joined the team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2021. She graduated from Great Bay Community College’s Vet Tech program and became licensed as a veterinary technician.
When not snuggling with every cat that comes through the door, Jess enjoys participating in surgical procedures and dentistry, as well as building rapport with our clients and patients. In her free time, she can be found reading a good book, hiking with friends, and spending time with her family. She currently resides in Milton, NH with her wonderful cat Ciabatta (Chibi cheeks!) and naughty cat Freddy Baguette. Sarah Hulen, VASarah joined the staff as a Veterinary Assistant in November 2017. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Sciences in May of 2015 with a focus in Small Animals, and is currently attending Penn Foster working towards getting her license. Sarah always knew at a young age that she wanted to work in veterinary medicine.
Sarah currently lives in Dover with her two cats, Nala and Simba. When she's not at work, she enjoys going to the lake, reading a good book, camping and working out. Jenna Loubier, Customer Service RepresentativeJenna Loubier is the Client Care Specialist of Eliot Veterinary Hospital. Before Eliot Veterinary Hospital, Jenna worked in many customer service positions where she has been able to assist people in need. As a young girl, she knew that the care of animals was her passion in life. Her first family dog, Jedda, became her very best furry friend. Not too long ago she got a kitten, Georgie, who has had several health complications which caused a serious spark in her drive to help animals in need. After graduating from Dover High School, she has decided that she wants to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Jenna can’t wait to help you and your furry loved ones.
Diana Tobey, Customer Service RepresentativeDiana joined the team in October 2023. A South Berwick native and Marshwood grad, Diana has worked in customer service for over 35 years in the area, largely in human healthcare. In 2020, she left human healthcare behind and has not looked back!
Diana lives in South Berwick with her partner Dan, and together they have two dogs, a cat, 13 chickens and 3 ducks. Diana loves her three kids Shawn, Molly, and Connor, and her bonus daughter Madison and husband Scott. She is the proud grandma to Ryleigh and Chase, and her bonus grandson, Severin. In her free time (what's that?) Diana enjoys spending time with her family, being upta camp, heading to the beach and traveling. |
